Sustainability
New York State Compliance
At Le Baiser Avenue, we recognize our legal and ethical responsibility to ensure the humane treatment of animals throughout our supply chain. In alignment with New York State Agriculture & Markets Law, Article 26, we require all suppliers to treat animals in a manner that protects them from cruelty, neglect, and unnecessary harm.
Pursuant to Section 353 of New York State law, animals involved in sourcing must be:
- Provided with sufficient and proper food and water
- Sheltered in conditions that offer protection from weather and environmental stressors
- Treated in ways that avoid unjustifiable pain, suffering, or injury
Le Baiser Avenue prohibits sourcing from any supplier that engages in practices violating these fundamental welfare protections.
Minimum Standards of Humane Care
All suppliers must ensure that animals are:
- Not overdriven, overloaded, tortured, or cruelly treated, whether intentionally or through neglect
- Not deprived of food, water, or adequate shelter (Section 353)
- Not confined without proper ventilation or exposed to extreme temperatures that threaten their health (Section 353-b)
- Not injured or killed in a manner that violates humane or lawful standards
These standards reflect Le Baiser’s commitment to responsible sourcing and full compliance with New York State law.
Supplier Requirements
Suppliers are required to:
- Certify in writing that their practices meet or exceed New York State animal welfare standards
- Provide clear documentation regarding species, country of origin, and the conditions under which animals were raised or harvested
- Promptly notify Le Baiser Avenue of any changes or incidents that may impact compliance with this policy
Le Baiser Avenue also strictly prohibits the use of materials derived from animals involved in illegal trade, mistreatment, or any activity that violates CITES or other applicable U.S. and international regulations.
